What are Dermal Fillers®?
Dermal fillers are injectable substances used to restore volume, smooth lines and wrinkles and enhance facial contours. Dermal Fillers consist of a gel that contains Hyaluronic acid which is a substance that occurs naturally in our bodies. This means that over time they naturally deplete but also crucially - that they can be dissolved if required. They can be used to enhance certain features, for instance plump lips, straighten a nose or enhance a profile (Chin Filler) but also to facilitate anti-ageing treatments.
As we age, all our tissues start to deplete. This is a natural part of the ageing process and is usually more apparent in women than men due to declining levels of oestrogen from the early 40’s in women. On a practical level, this means that for women, skin starts to age, the bony skeleton starts to diminish, fat pads start to reduce, and all of these things add up to an ageing face, neck, hands or décolleté.
Dermal Fillers when used to counteract ageing can provide support by replacing what has depleted. This is why we can guarantee a natural result as our practitioners are only restoring what was originally there.
For example, many women will often comment that their face looks like it’s sagged. But in scientific terms- what this actually means is that the fat pad and bone that was supporting the cheeks (for example) has depleted. So, in this instance, one type of dermal filler can be used to replace the scaffolding that was the ‘bone’ and another can be used to mimic where the fat pad would have been. By using Dermal Fillers to replace these structures we can create a more youthful appearance

Dermal Fillers for Men
The same ageing process occurs for men but tends to happen a little later in life and looks a little different. This is for various reasons, but the same principles can be applied when treating men for anti-ageing treatments.
