Advanced Blemish Removal

At the Townhouse clinic, we offer Short Wave Diathermy (electro-cauterisation) for the safe removal of unwanted skin blemishes.

It is a non-invasive, safe and effective form of skin blemish reduction which uses electrolysis (heat) to damage the cells it is targeting. The treatment consists of an advanced machine with an electrical current that passes down a probe and into the skin where it is able to cauterise the blemish, enabling it to be removed without the need for surgery. In most cases, only one treatment is required but some cases do require multiple treatments.

It’s popular as it will not leave marks or scars and is superior to cryo-therapy (freezing) as is treats the root which makes it much less likely that the blemish will recur.

Once treated, the blemish will gradually disappear and there is very little down time. You can return to work and normal activities- you just need to keep the area dry for as long as possible to aid healing.

However- if the lesion is in an obvious area and a special event is planned- keep this is mind as sometimes following treatment the area can look worse before it looks better. This is completely normal and is due to the time required for healing to take place.

All areas of the body can be treated- it’s not just for the face. But it’s worth noting that whilst thread veins on the legs can be removed, they are likely to recur in this area.
